![]() Brother Utilities Windows 10 Pro X64Setup: Windows 10 Pro x64 Brother MFC-L5800DW Heres the story: A week and a half ago, I setup a Brother MFC-L5800DW printer at a site. The only unusual thing about the install was the office had an Ethernet port that was not live.I setup the printer wirelessly but remarked to the user it might be a little pokey sending scans.
I wasnt sure. A few days later, the client calls me to say that they werent able to scan and that they had someone come in to connect the Ethernet port. I would have preferred they let me know that scanning was an issue before they spent money having someone fix the Ethernet port, but not much I can do about that. I decided to go in, disable the WLAN on the Brother printer, enable the Ethernet port with the same static IP as the WLAN, and confirm printing and scanner work. Brother Utilities Software Could NoAfter I switched the interfaces in the Brother printer, the Control Center software could no longer see the printer. I ran their little Network Connection Tool which identified a problem and then reported that the problem was fixed but it actually did not fix anything. Pings to the printer worked so I know the printer was on the network and responding. At this point, I search for a way to uninstall the Brother software. There is no entry in Programs and Features nor in the newer Windows 10 utility. Brother Utilities Drivers For TheAnother tool uninstall the WIA drivers for the printer and scanner. Nevertheless, I ran those tools and reinstalled the software. Once done, ControlCenter showed two MFC-L5800DW and Im having trouble getting the scanning profiles to save correctly. ![]() He also doesnt know how I fix the issue of two printers showing up in ControlCenter. At this point, Im getting pretty steamed because this is supposed to be so simple and yet here I am two hours later with the same problems. Eventually, I do what Ive done in many instances in the past. I scour the registry and hard drive for references to Brother. I find usual stuff, nothing out of the ordinary. When I say Ive done this before, I am not kidding. Its a method Ive used to force a complete reinstall of the software dozens of times over the years.) Well. I should have guess this like everything else in this adventure, this too would fail. The software wouldnt install at all throwing up various inscrutable errors like the parameter is incorrect. The bottom line was many of the necessary utilities like the Scanner software and that ControlCenter didnt install properly. I threw up my hands and ran a System Restore to a couple of days before I switched interfaces on the Brother. No window appears. The helpful Network Connection Tool shows a dialogue in which it wants me to type in the IP address of the printer, but I cant activate the field and type.
